It consists of a Cu63Zn37 brass core which is coated with a proprietary layer of gamma phase brass and promotes efficient cutting due to its high zinc content, tenacious bond to the core material, and flushing assist provided by the “porous” nature of the discontinuous coating. Cutting speed increases of up to 35% over plain brass wire and 15% over regular zinc-coated brass wire have been reported.
