blacspark - the next generation of coated EDM wires

blacspark EDM wire is a brand-new introduction to the North American market. This revolutionary product is unlike any other coated EDM wire introduced to the market over the past few decades.

Unlike traditionally coated wires and also typical Gamma phase wires, blacspark features an innovative reconstituted structure. The wire's micro structured surface is combined with very small semiconductor material particles. These tiny pieces of materials are evenly distributed and embedded into the surface. A resulting benefit for the cutting process is that each spark transfers more energy into the workpiece. This highly efficient energy transfer results in higher material removal rates.

Another outstanding feature is the consistency with which the semiconductor particles are distributed within the coating. This even distribution leads to better stability and allows a higher percentage of cutting pulses to be effectively applied to the workpiece. The combined result? A significantly faster cutting rate.

blacspark EDM wire will initially be offered in a high tensile strength / hard version. Later this year, a soft version designed for high-speed taper cutting will be introduced.

Both blacspark H and the future blacspark S will be offered in spool sizes ranging from 8.8 lbs - 44 lbs and in 0.008", 0.010" and 0.012" diameter.
